EL PIRINEO DE LLEIDA, EL OLIMPO DE LOS ESQUIADORES
En pocos lugares como el Pirineo de Lleida los amantes de la nieve y del esquí tienen a su disposición una oferta tan amplia de estaciones alpinas y de fondo, con el valor
añadido de que a su alrededor, el visitante, sea o no esquiador, puede disfrutar de una variedad de actividades culturales, gastronómicas, turísticas y de ocio inagotable. El
Pirineo leridano cuenta con 11 estaciones que ofrecen en total unos 500 kilómetros esquiables, con 246 pistas de alpino, mientras que para los que prefieren el esquí nórdico,
tienen a su disposición numerosos itinerarios para recorrer con raquetas en medio de paisajes de postal.
En la Val d’Aran se encuentra la estación de Baqueira Beret, que es el complejo con el mayor dominio esquiable de España, con un total de 2.273 hectáreas, y uno de los
destinos turísticos de invierno de alta gama más importantes del sur de Europa. En la comarca de la Alta Ribagorça está la estación de Boí Taüll que este 2019 ha recibido,
por segundo año consecutivo, el premio de mejor estación de esquí de España durante la celebración de los World Ski Awards que tienen lugar en el complejo invernal de
Kuzbühel, en Austria.
El Pallars Sobirà alberga las estaciones de Espot y Port Ainé, además de la estación mixta de Tavascan, en la que se pueden practicar las dos modalidades, esquí alpino y de
fondo. Tanto Espot como Port Ainé han sido distinguidas por la Agencia Catalana de Turismo con el distintivo de Destino de Turismo Familiar. Completa la oferta de esquí
alpino la estación de Port del Comte, en la comarca del Solsonès, que ofrece a sus visitantes la zona de debutantes más grande de los Pirineos. Lleida es la provincia de España
con más estaciones de esquí de fondo, con las de Aransa, Lles de Cerdanya, Sant Joan de l’Erm, Tuixent-la Vansa y Virós-Vallferrera, También disponen de espacio para practicar
esta modalidad las estaciones de Baqueira Beret y Tavascan.
Joaquim Alsina, director de la Asociación Catalana de Estaciones de Montaña (ACEM), valora positivamente la oferta del Pirineo leridano. “Cuenta con la mejor estación, de
largo, del sur de los Alpes, Baqueira Beret, lo que hace de esta zona un poco diferente de otras, con el añadido de que no se trata solo de una estación, ya que hay todo un
valle, que permite al esquiador disponer de una oferta increíble, tanto para el esquiador como para el visitante que no es practicante. Además, varias estaciones están muy
cerca del único Parque Nacional que hay en Cataluña, Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici“, explica.
Por su parte, Juli Alegre, director del Patronato de Turismo de la Diputación de Lleida, destaca que “la relación calidad-precio de las estaciones del Pirineo de Lleida y la oferta
complementaria de la que disponen las hacen especialmente atractivas“.

La actividad económica que genera la práctica del esquí supone también un importante factor de reequilibrio territorial. Entorno a las estaciones funcionan 125 empresas
que facilitan que el visitante pueda disfrutar, no sólo de la nieve, sino también de numerosas actividades a su alrededor. La posibilidad de que los Pirineos sean la sede de
los Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno en 2030 abre un panorama muy esperanzador que puede poner las estaciones leridanas de forma definitiva en el panorama internacional.
