Route to the Ecomuseum of the Vall d’Ora and Sant Pere de Graudescales

The Ecomuseu de la vall d’Ora stands at the foot of the imposing cliffs of Busa and is just before the church of Sant Lleïr, following the course of the river Aigua d’Ora (Pyrenees-el Solsonès - Spain).

At this Eco-museum, it is possible to see working examples of two typical features of the rural and mountain world and their traditional activities; a sawmill and a mill that are both run by water power. Just a few metres away, it is possible to admire a small but beautiful Romanesque-style bridge and to visit the old rural school, which now houses a collection dedicated to traditional trades associated with the fields and forests. Until relatively recently, it was still possible to observe some of these time-honoured practices in this valley, which has managed to maintain much of its natural image and its spirit of auto-sufficiency.

Continuing along the same path, for another 3 km or so, visitors will reach the church of Sant Pere de Graudescales. This building, which dates from the 11th century, is built in the Lombard Romanesque style and consists of a nave with transept, with three semi-circular apses. The floor plan of the building takes the form of a Greek cross. Significant features include the opening of a window in the form of a cross in one of the walls of the church. (This church is always closed, but a large window near the door will allow visitors a view of the interior.)
