ADVENTURE SPORTS AND ACTIVE TOURISM ACTIVITIES
A point of reference for adventure sports and active tourism
The generous offer in the area of adventure sports and active tourism make the comarques of Lleida a point of reference within Southern Europe. Every year, thousands of visitors, from the whole of Spain and from countries on every continent, come to Lleida to enjoy some of the 50 or more sporting disciplines that can be enjoyed in the territory, with the aid of over 200 specialised companies.
The natural settings of the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees are the areas that contain the lion’s share of this type of activity, but there are also many more. The peaceful and welcoming landscapes of the plain offer a unique, and privileged, setting in which to discover the world of active tourism. There is a surprising array of proposals, which range from the adrenaline-fuelled jumps of bungee jumping, from heights of up to 122 metres, to taking a peaceful stroll along one of the many hiking routes that cross the territory.
The variety of disciplines available to those who love outdoor sports is really surprising. In the comarques of Lleida, you will find around 50 different options, ranging from aquatic activities (with rafting as the most emblematic activity, but without forgetting others such as gullying and lake and reservoir sports) to land sports like hiking, MTB and horse-riding, as well as exciting aerial proposals, such as hang gliding and paragliding.
The positive evolution of the pandemic leads us to predict a great season, which will “officially” begin -particularly in the case of river activities- at Easter (coinciding with the end of the snow season) and end in mid-October. That said, in recent years, there has been a clear deseasonalisation of these activities; this has made it possible to enjoy active tourism throughout most of the year.
