Lesser kestrel

The lesser kestrel strictly disappeared as a bird that nests in Catalonia during the 1980s. However, at the end of that decade, the Generalitat de Catalunya started a reintroduction programme that led to the re-establishment of the species. The population has been growing -albeit with major fluctuations- and it is now a regular breeder in L'Urgell and La Segarra, and also occasionally in El Segrià.
