The Ignatian Way
Following in the footsteps of St. Ignatius
The Ignatian Way follows the route that the Jesuit priest Saint Ignatius of Loyola (Basque Country) followed to the Cave of Sant Ignasi at Manresa (Catalonia). This route follows the same course as the Way of St. James, but in the opposite direction, and crosses the comarques (local districts) of El Segrià, El Pla d’Urgell, L’Urgell and La Segarra along a route signposted with orange arrows. In L’Urgell, the route turns off to Verdú, where it is possible to visit the shrine to Sant Pere Claver, a Jesuit missionary who was born in this municipality before going to Colombia.
