The Arnau Mir de Tost Route
The legacy of the Lord of Àger
The Arnau Mir de Tost Route is an authentic trip back through time to the 11th century when the sierra of El Montsec served as a frontier between Muslim and Christian territories. It was at that time that Arnau Mir de Tost crossed this frontier and captured Àger from the Muslims, thereby extending the Christian-held territory towards the south. He left behind a large and important patrimony: castles, watchtowers, palaces, churches, etc. The route features as its main points of interest the castle and religious community of Sant Pere d’Àger, the castle of Mur, the collegiate church of Santa Maria de Mur and the castle-residential palace of Llordà.
