''Pica d'Estats'' Prize

The Board of Tourism of the Diputació de Lleida has resolved the 34th International Tourist Award ”Pica de Estats” of Press, Radio, Television and Internet, with a financial endowment of .48,000, distributed in 8 categories.

The “Pica de Estates” Award is addressed to the information and communication professionals who have published or broadcast journalistic works in any possible genre, extension and format (radio, television, press and Internet) on the tourist attractions of the Pyrenees and the Lands of Lleida.

The award has a prestige recognition, both for the quality of the works presented and for the level of the members of the jury, as well as the rigour and commitment of the College of Journalists of Catalonia, which historically participates in the chairing of the jury. To date, the “Pica de Estates” Award has recorded 4,725 newspaper works, corresponding to more than 460 media outlets worldwide, and has awarded reports of 287 journalists.

2023 Edition

The winners of the 34th "Pica d’Estats" Awards

The 34th edition of the “Pica d’Estats” International Tourist Awards, organised by the Provincial Council Tourist Board, received a total of 85 reports, of which 63 corresponded to state-level works, 9 to international works and another 13 to local media.

  1. The award for General Interest Press went to the article “Temporada de laberints de Ponent“, by Albert González Farran published in Ara newspaper on 17 August 2023.
  2. The Specialist Travel and Tourism Press award was for the article “ Quan els arbres tornen a casa“, by Pep Coll, published in Descobrir Catalunya magazine on 1 September 2023.
  3. The International Press award was for the report “Au Pays de l’or jaune: Les Garrigues, dépaysement garanti au coeur de la Catalogne!“, published in April 2023 by French journalist Geneviève Clastres, on the “La Feuille de Chou” blog.
  4. The Television award went to the programme Carros de Foc, la travessa dels refugis by Jordi Cadena, broadcast by 3Cat on 21 August 2023.
  5. The Radio award was for the special programme “Falles de Durro“, by Marta Romagosa as part of Catalunya al dia, broadcast on 16 June 2023 by 3Cat – Catalunya Radio.
  6. The winner of best Photographic report was Pallars: el territori més salvatge, by photographer Roger Rovira, published in Descobrir Catalunya on 1 September 2023.
  7. The best Internet report award went to 20 anys del Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu, by Mark Obiols posted on YouTube on 1 August 2023.
  8. The Local media of the Lands de Lleida was for the piece “El Pirineu en globus”, of Oriol Clavera, published on 4 December 2022, in the Segre newspaper Sunday supplement Lectura.

The jury

The awards jury met on 17 February to decide the winners of this 34th edition. The president of the Catalonia Journalists’ Association in Lleida, Laura Alcalde, chaired the jury by delegation of the dean of the Catalonia Journalists’ Association, Joan Maria Morros. The following journalists were also members of the jury: Francesc Canosa, Noelia Casellas, Josep Cuní, Pepa Fernández, Lluís Foix, Francesc Guillaumet, Anna Sáez, Mariano Palacín and Mònica Terribas. The director of the Provincial Council Tourist Board, Juli Alegre, acted as secretary of the jury.
