Visitors will discover the hidden culture that has united different generations of people in this territory over the centuries, via the River Segre, River Garonne, the Canals d’Urgell, the River Noguera Pallaresa and the River Noguera Ribagorçana. These waters have given life to a community that is proud of its past and which places great importance on projecting itself into the wider world. This is the land that guards hidden secrets in each of its traditions, customs and dialects. The people of Lleida have carried these with them since the dawn of time, in their folk dances, grandmothers’ recipes and ancestral rites.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage of the comarques of Lleida has a common thread that will lead visitors to discover the true nature of these comarques and their inhabitants. Visitors will enter a world of many and varied attractions: agricultural fairs, which reveal the treasures guarded by smallholder farmers and livestock herders; festes majors (local festivities) that bring together families and indeed whole villages; and falles (fire festivals) that pay homage to nature and to age-old beliefs and superstitions. Visitors can also sit at a table and savour a cuisine which reflects the best of what the earth can give and discover the, often difficult, reality of some of the trades of yesteryear.
